What is analog video

Simply speaking, this term can be defined as all magnetic video tapes that are not digital. Analog video includes VHS, Betacam, Betamax, U-Matic, film reels and other similar tapes. Its basic principle of video is representing all information in continuous scale electrical signals for time and amplitude.

There are 3 analog video formats in the world: PAL, NTSC and SECAM used in different countries.

This format has one general drawback: it tends to wear out with time and each time one uses it. As for today, DVD is the best solution for those who want to save their home videos for a long time.
